Duties will include, but not limited to performing various administrative duties as assigned by the City Manager along with the following activities:
Promotes area-wide economic development planning by serving the City of Beloit, Mitchell County, Solomon Valley Economic Development, Inc. (SVED), and other incorporated cities in the area.
Serves as the primary area-wide resource person for development issues, including housing, retail base retention and expansion, industrial development, tourism, and community development programs and projects.
Solicits developers and businesses for economic development projects.
Works with state and federal agencies
Prepares and updates the economic development plan and goals, and makes economic development recommendations for these entities.
Seeks economic development grants. Administers grants as necessary.
Analyzes and responds to development inquiries and proposals.
Provides professional advice and administrative support to SVED and the Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce as necessary.
Provides leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinates activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
Provides professional advice to the City Manager and governing body as assigned; makes presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups and the general public.
Communicates official plans, policies, and procedures to staff and general public.
Prepares a variety of studies, reports, and related information for decision-making purposes.

The candidate should have four years related experience and/or training or bachelor’s degree from a college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The preferred candidate would have five years related experience and/or training or master’s degree from a college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in Business or Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field would be preferred.
