Our Duties
The Mitchell County, Kansas, Noxious Weed Department administers the Kansas Noxious Weed Law (KSA 2-1314) throughout the County. We deal with all noxious weeds found on county property, in townships and on privately owned property by aiding in their identifying, educating, treating and removing of those noxious weeds. We also recommend the use of cultural controls that do not require herbicides. Along with our services we, in turn, try to keep our county roadsides clean of unwanted vegetation. We've also taken action to add color back to our county roads
through our Wildflower Project. Click Here or Scroll Down To Learn More! |

During 2018, we were excited to see some of the seeds that were initially planted growing into mature plants. Flowering color is beginning to show in some areas. We know that the plants don’t all bloom at the same time and that some may need more growth before becoming fully noticeable to people passing by. The favorable condition of the plots observed this past fall (2018), while we spreading more seeds, gave us hope and confidence for the future of this project. We hope that everyone can take the time to visit one or more of our Wildflower Project plots.
